Have you ever been crabbing before?

I am learning to use the features of a recount and share my experiences.

On Sunday, I woke up on a bright early morning, so as my little sister. We both were thinking that it was just a normal day where we just watch TV and did nothing, but when we went to the kitchen, we saw fishing equipment except for fishing rods.

I quickly had breakfast which was very yummy blueberry pancakes. After that we went to play some games on my PS3 and I still couldn't figure out what we are doing with the fishing equipment.

I played my two favourite games that are Call Of Duty: Black Ops ll and Minecraft. I first played Minecraft with my friend Glen. We were continuing on a huge theme park that we built since January 15th.

I helped Glen finish his huge and long roller coaster that he was building since we started the theme park. We were building for seventeen minutes. After that, I wanted to play a really cool game called Call Of Duty:
Black Ops ll.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops II is a game where there are random players that are in our team and there are other players that are in another team who are our enemies that we have to kill. We can kill people by shooting. The much players you kill, the higher points you get and if you get enough points, you can buy new guns.

After that, my mum said if we were ready, I was confused because I didn’t know why we needed to get ready. My mum said that we are going to a beach which is out of Auckland and it is a two hour drive.

I wore my beach clothes and packed my swimming togs and life jacket. While we were in the car, I saw lots of buildings and lots of houses near the Sky Tower. I fell asleep while we drove across the places that were near Hamilton.

After the long two hour drive, we finally reached the beach. I quickly put on my swimming togs and life jacket, so I can go swimming in the ocean. My dad and my uncle were crabbing for quite a long time and they were lucky because  they got ten crabs every minute.

I was amazed that my dad caught over two hundred crabs in an hour. I was really tired, so was my sister. After a while, we set up our red tent and watched my dad and uncle crab. After that they got two hundred and fifty four crabs! That was a lot of crabs.

My dad and uncle were really tired after the long day at the beach, so they relaxed in the tent while my sister and I play in the sand. We made castles and a hotel for baby crabs. My sister and I saw one really tiny crab that went into the hotel, the crab loved the hotel and stayed in the hotel.

I really enjoyed swimming in the beach and eating the delicious crabs, I hope that we can come back to the beach soon.

Do you want the flag to change?

As part of our reading programme we use KiwiKids news to learn more about what is happening nationally and internationally in the world.
1. Find a quote from the main person in this news article
Richie McCaw voiced his support for a new national flag on Social Media;“This is the moment when I decided a new flag would be great for our country. Running out at Twickenham and seeing the two flags looking so similar. The silver fern has always been the special symbol on the All Black jersey that represents who we are as kiwis, so the new flag with a silver fern as a part of it would be a great option I believe.”
2. In your own words describe what happened in this news article.
In the finals of the Rugby World Cup, the two flags i.e. Australia and New Zealand flew side by  side.  Being so similar it was perhaps confusing to the thousands who had gathered for the game.
3. Find out where this event took place and include some information about this place.
The game took place in Twickenham which is a stadium in England that could hold 82,000 people.

Can you add a 3 digit number?

WALHT use place value to add a 3 digit number.

Amit is amazing!

WALHT: In reading this article I have been learning to combine close reading and inference skills to analyse text to learn more about the qualities of heroes.
In this story, there was a bad weather, Amit saw a old lady crossing the road while the cars were going past her and there were a lot of rain and a very strong wind. The old lady had a lack of vision so Amit went to help the old lady cross the road even though there were cars and bad weather. Amit had a lot of water splashing on him because the cars were splashing over the puddles.

Amit believed that he could save the old lady’s life even when he was in danger too. He was a brave and a courageous child,  who  showed confidence in  helping   the old lady cross the road, without his help she may well have lost her life.

George is our hero dog!

WALHT: In reading this article I have been learning to combine close reading and inference skills to analyse text to learn more about the qualities of heroes.
George dog.jpg🐟🐟
George the Jack Russell Terrier went to the dairy with five children. When they were walking, the smallest child was  attacked by two pit bull terriers.  George kept the dogs away by barking at the them. But then the pit bulls bit George and he was so injured that he needed to be put down by the local vet.

George believed in helping people.  He was known in the community as a friendly little dog.  The action of trying to keep the Pit Bulls away from the children, shows that George was both confident and courageous.  He saved the little boy from the pit bull terrier.
George was a hero because of his bravery saved the little boy’s life.
